Witches Brew!


One of my core strategies to maintain my weight loss over the past several years has been to create rituals.  I’ve found that doing the same things on a daily basis helped me develop rituals that eventually became habits for me.  There is something about making sure that the first thing you put in your body every morning is creating health for yourself.  The way I do this is by drinking a cleansing and warm mixture of lemon and ginger.  My nephew’s like to call this Tracey’s witches brew.  The lemon juice helps detox your system while ginger has been used for centuries to aid in digestive health.  Both of these ingredients help you start your day off with the right energy and hydrate you first thing after you wake up.

Preparation Time: 2 hours / Serves: 7

  • ¼ cup fresh squeezed lemon juice

  • 1 large piece of fresh ginger

  • 2L filtered water


  1. Juice lemons

  2. Peel ginger and thinly slice

  3. Add lemon juice, ginger and water to a pot and boil for 1-2 hour

  4. Pour into a glass storage container
